Our first impression of Senri is that he’s quiet, apathetic, and blunt. We don’t think there’s much to his character since he’s seems to be pretty laid back and uninterested by his surroundings. And while of these traits are true about Senri, that isn’t the only thing about him.
As a child, he’s been forced to suppress his true self in order to please his mother. His mother, a former actress, has gradually become mentally unstable and taking care of an unruly child not only would make her condition worse, but could prove harmful for Senri as well. So in order to calm his mother, he has trained himself to be compliant. To go along with what was told for him to do, to be led by the strings people pulled. In a lot of ways this accommodating nature has extended into his teenage years as well.
Senri becoming a model was probably his mother’s wish, and not something he would have chosen himself to do. He shows no real interest in modeling, but seems to go along with it to please her, and even his friend, Rima, an admirer of his mother’s, was working as one. Even enrolling into Cross Academy was the idea of his Great Uncle, whose apart of the Vampire Senate, hearing that the son of the Ichijo faction would be attending. So Senri went as well. Since the Hunter’s Association and the Vampire Senate have a rivalry between them, Senri is often dispatched by his great uncle to take care of a Level E vampire, before the hunters do. Senri does those assignments along with his modeling, but he’s very laid back about completing the tasks given to him. A major example of this is his father taking over Senri’s body. Although, his father, Rido, is a pureblood and has the ability to tame vampires of lower ranks, Senri physically and mentally does allows the total possession of his body. We don’t see Senri put up a fight to gain control of his own body, nor does he resist when his body is about to be taken over. If he’s nothing but a still doll he can’t cause any harm. But he soon realizes that just standing by and being quiet is more harm than good.
While his body was still possessed by his father, his body was used to attack one of his closest friends, Rima Toya. Rima scolded Senri for allowing his father to take control of him and for not loving himself. This caused Senri to stir, breaking the hold his father had on him for a moment before being succumbed again. After his father left his body, Senri took Rima’s words to heart realizing that he needed to stand up for himself more and to stop repressing his true self. He needed to cut those strings he was so accustomed to following.
Though, Senri isn’t obedient all the time. Among the Night Class he’s able to show bits and pieces of his true self. His bluntness shows how candid he can be with some of his classmates, whispering verbal stabs to Aidou, or ridiculing Akatsuki for underestimating Zero.
Even if Senri seems apathetic to most things, he leads a very active life for a vampire. He’s one of the few vampires that works during the day as well as goes to school at night. Even if he’s a bit careless about taking care of himself and knowing his surroundings, he does take his work seriously. Making sure to be punctual, and give it his best effort. Even with attending the Night Class, Senri continues to work hard…mostly because he would be scolded otherwise. Unfortunately this leaves Shiki extremely tired, making him seem lethargic. His lack of awareness is attributed to his state of being half asleep most of the time. And without enough sleep, Senri isn’t very motivated to do things. So most of the time he seems disinterested, or bother by some the activities that his other classmates enjoy.
Most noteworthy is his relationship with his roommate and friend, Takuma Ichijo. Takuma is someone most people would think Senri wouldn’t get along with, but it’s the opposite, he enjoys the other’s company. The young vampire allows Takuma to introduce him to different things, which he soon takes a liking to himself. He clings to Takuma, not out of obedience, but he’s able to open up and be himself with the other. Senri doesn’t have to be a still doll to be in Takuma’s favor, and the Dorm vice president seems to encourage him to broaden his horizons. Although, Takuma does drag him into certain things, Senri sees it as a breath of fresh air. He really holds Takuma dear to him wondering about his whereabouts after Rido’s attack on Cross academy. Senri and Rima only stop looking for him after Kaname assured them he was fine, but didn’t disclose more than that.
His relationship with Rima Toya is very important as well. Rima is someone he constantly has by his side, and she has a similar temperament to him and they both work as models. However for Senri, Rima takes the role as older sister often scolding him for not taking care of himself. In a lot of ways, Rima babies Senri, doting over him in her own ways. However, just like Takuma she encourages Senri take more of a lead in his own life, as well as to work hard and be more attentive.
As the series progresses, Senri is gradually develops into someone who is taking life into his own hands, which resembles the stance that the main protagonist of the series, Yuuki Kuran, has taken. He attends the ball held by the Hunter’s association by his own wishes, even convincing Rima to accompany him. He also visits Yuuki at the Kuran mansion, not only to give a message from Takuma, but also to affirm his relationship to her as his cousin, and letting her know that she was not disliked by him. Once apathetic of what was going on around him, Senri has been keeping himself informed of what was going on in the vampire world. Senri also supported Yuuki when she was re-establishing the Night Class.
Senri is becoming more honest of what he wants, and he presents this in his actions. He no longer looks for people to make decisions for him; instead he is doing that on his own.

Senri is a vampire so he has the basic strengths that a preternatural being has: agility, able to accelerate his healing, a strong sense of smell, night vision, super human strength, and allure.
Since Senri is a noble vampire he has a special ability to use his own blood as a whip, an ability he inherited from his father. Also since he has Kuran blood in him, he can sense other purebloods, or even when one dies.
He also gets this gut feeling when something bad is going to happen.

Shiki thought he was lucky to have fallen into a dream world, a world where dreaming was expected and encouraged. It was the ease of being able to sleep whenever he liked that hooked the young vampire in. But after getting the sleep he needed regularly, the enthusiasm to sleep all day lost its appeal.
In his own world he had lived such an active life, a model by day, a vampire in the elite night class by evening, that sleeping left little to be desired after a while. Shiki found himself restless now. And what would Rima say knowing he spent most of his days in bed, instead of being out and about. He would definitely be scolded.
But what was there to do, though? There were not a lot of things that interested him. The mahogany haired boy considered his options for a moment. Usually he relied on Takuma to introduce him into something new, but he was sure his classmate was preoccupied at the moment, plus he could do something like this on his own. He needed to.
“…A dreamworld should at least have manga, or else it’ll be a huge disappointment.” He said to himself as he lazying rose from his bed, hand running through his dark locks as he addled over to the bathroom.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I needed a balance. One of my other characters takes a lot of energy, so I wanted to add a mellow character to balance it out. Plus, he has a canonmate here that he’s really close to.
